Faculty Positions Available

Academic Appointments

The Faculty of Law at The University of Western Ontario is in the midst of a continuing process of growth and rejuvenation.  This has included the appointment of several new members of Faculty in recent years, and the Faculty expects to continue to make additional appointments in the years to come.  Western’s goal in its appointment process is to demonstrate its commitment to excellence in teaching and research, and to promote a law program that is both rigorous and challenging.

The Faculty invites applications for appointments, tenure-track and limited term, to commence on July 1, 2009.  The Faculty will consider applications from top-quality candidates with interests in all areas of the law.  Appointments may be made at the levels of Assistant, Associate or full Professor, as qualifications and experience warrant.

To be eligible for appointment, candidates must have a superior academic record.  This normally includes a relevant advanced graduate degree, or its equivalent.  Candidates must demonstrate a record of, or a strong potential for, excellence in scholarly research and teaching.  They should in addition have the ability and willingness to contribute to the intellectual and scholarly life of the Faculty community and to the University more generally.

Applicants should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and three letters of academic reference, to Dean Ian Holloway, Q.C., Faculty of Law, The University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, N6A 3K7.  The Appointments Committee proposes to begin to consider applications on December 1, 2008.

Positions are subject to budget approval.  Applicants should have fluent written and oral communication skills in English.  All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.  The University of Western Ontario is committed to employment equity and encourages applications from all qualified women and men, including visible minorities, aboriginal people and persons with disabilities.
