Law Library and Computer Lab

Library

The Library has a seating capacity of approximately 400. The collection totals more than 200,000 volumes and microform equivalents. Primary materials include a comprehensive collection of Canadian statutes and law reports, the principal English law reports, and a selection of materials from other common law jurisdictions. The Library has an excellent collection of periodical literature in legal and related fields, and a treatise collection consisting of approximately 60,000 texts. Law students also have access to material and services in the entire University Library System. Research capabilities are further enhanced by a sophisticated on-line catalogue system. One of the strengths of the Faculty's Library is the staff, who are committed to assisting students in locating resources and formulating research strategies.

Computer Lab

Adjacent to the Library is a large, state of the art computer laboratory. With worldwide electronic links, the lab is used exclusively by law students as a resource centre for computer-assisted legal research, word processing, and as a classroom for instruction in computer-related courses. Students in the Faculty receive training in the use of the QUICKLAW legal database, access to which is free. The computer lab supervisors are available ten hours per day to assist anyone who requires assistance or training.
