First, the console...


In order to access the cheat codes in Daikatana, you have to first enable the console. The following are some descriptions of this process for those who have never utilized a console in QuakeX engine games.

What is a console? In games powered by the quake engine, there is a method of passing commands and variables straight to the engine through a command-line-like interface. This interface is called the 'console', and is activate by hitting the tilde key (~), which is up next to the one (1) button.

How do I activate the console? Running Daikatana normally means you cannot access the console. In order to get it, you have to use the +set console 1 command-line parameter when first starting up the game. This can be done several ways.

• From the RUN line (Click the START button, then Run), BROWSE to your Daikatana executable in your Daikatana directory, then add the +set console 1 line outside the quotes. It will most likely end up looking like this: "C:\Program Files\Eidos Interactive\Daikatana\daikatana.exe" +set console 1
• set up a batch file in your Daikatana directory. Using a text editor, make a small text file called daikatana.bat that contains the following line; daikatana.exe +set console 1. Then just run that file instead of your usual daikatana.exe
• Use a text editor to open AUTOEXEC.CFG, CURRENT.CFG or your individual user config file (all found in \Daikatana\data\) and put in the command "console 1" with no quotes. What the hell, put "cheats 1" in there too while you're at it. Backup your files before you mess with them.

Next, the cheats!


Once you are in Daikatana and can bring down the console by hitting ~, then you have to type cheats 1 or put "cheats 1" in your config file. Then just bring down the console, type in whichever cheat you like, and have fun! Please note though that you must retype 'cheats 1' every time you progress to a new map during singleplayer. TIP: When in the console, you can hit the UP ARROW key to scroll back through commands you've already entered.

GOD God mode/Invulnerable

NOCLIP Move through walls

NOTARGET Monsters don't see you

MASSACRE Kill all monsters and sidekicks

HEALTH [value] Give yourself [value] amounts of health. You can also just input HEALTH a bunch of times and it'll go up that way too.

BOOST [stat] Boost your attributes one point. Choices are VITA, ATTACK, ACRO, SPEED, POWER.

BOOST ALL Boost all stats at once.

WEAPON_GIVE_[value] Give yourself weapon in slot [value]. The daikatana is always 7. Inputting this cheat in multiple times will increase the ammo you have for that weapon, too.

*NOTE* There is no know cheat for boosting your Daikatana level
