AN INTRODUCTION TO FAMILY SERVICES

Army installations are like many small communities you may have visited or lived in. They have shopping—the Post Exchange and the commissary—along with convenience shops such as hair salons and video rental stores, sporting facilities, and equipment rental. Additionally, the Army assists its Soldiers and military Family members by providing access to services such as the Red Cross, advocacy programs, and programs to aid Families in time of transition or crisis.

ARMY COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Army Community Service is a Soldier and Family support center that is usually centrally located within the post. It provides Army Families information, guidance, assistance, or problem solving in personal or Family matters that are beyond the Family's own resources.

FAMILY PRIVILEGES
Because military installations might not be located near what we might think of as "necessities," the Army has provided such convenience services at most of its posts. Such services include things like shopping, schools, veterinary and legal services.
