JEFFERSON LOUIS today insisted there will be no let-up in the hunt for more goals.
Striker Louis took his tally for the season to seven goals in nine outings when he grabbed a brace in Saturday's 3-2 victory against Ebbsfleet United at The Racecourse.

And he could equal a Wrexham post-war goalscoring record if he bags a hat-trick at troubled Grays on Saturday.

The most goals scored since 1945 in the first ten league games of a season is ten by Andy Morrell in 2002, and Louis is promising more for Wrexham's success-starved supporters.

Delighted with his form since joining Wrexham in the summer after being released by Mansfield Town, Louis was adamant he will not rest on his laurels and is looking to continue his impressive goal scoring form.

"It is up there with the best starts I have had," said Louis today. "It is going very well for me but it helps when you get on with your team mates like I do. That is very important.

"I just have to keep my head down and keep going, and take every game as it comes.

"Of course I am happy with my present record but you have to have more goals and targets.

"You can't be content and in the comfort zone thinking everything will fall into place for you. It does not happen like that. If I get more goals at Grays it would be great, but there is no aim for the season."

Brian Little has been delighted with the contribution Louis has made and the much-travelled frontman believes the Reds boss should take a lot of credit for for his excellent strike rate.

"I have been very happy with the manager," said Louis. "The gaffer has got a lot of belief and confidence in me, and he is one of the best managers I have worked with.

"He understands me as a player and a person, makes me feel loved, and gets the best out of me. He is a very good coach and manager."

Victory against Ebbsfleet took Wrexham up to eighth position in the Blue Square Premier, three points away from the play-offs and a further two off top spot currently held by Crawley Town.

Although Wrexham have played more games away from The Racecourse, Louis is not satisfied with the Reds' record of just one win in four attempts on their travels and is hoping to improve on that against Grays Athletic – a lowly 20th in the table – on Saturday.

"It could be going better for us," said Louis. "We have got some players missing at the moment but we are trying to keep winning games at home and get a better away record.

"It is a good chance to do that on Saturday.

"We will go into the game feeling positive after beating Ebbsfleet but we won't look at positions.

"We have to go out and perform and do our own jobs, and not focus on them."

However, there is a doubt about Louis' involvement at The Recreation Ground. He was substituted against Ebbsfleet because of a hamstring problem and has not trained with his team-mates this week.

And Louis, an ever-present so far this term, admits he is eager to face fifth from bottom Grays who have picked up seven points from their opening nine matches.

"I am not going to train today but hopefully I will tomorrow," added Louis. "Of course I want to play at Grays but we will have to see."

Meanwhile, Reds' defender Darran Kempson was an unused substitute when the England C team was beaten 6-2 by Bosnia and Herzegovinia in a friendly in Sarajevo.

The squad arrived in the Bosnian capital a day late following two aborted attempts to fly in from Vienna, having seen their original connecting flight on Sunday cancelled.

Manager Paul Fairclough's party was then forced to take a plane to Split in Croatia instead, before enduring a six hour coach journey to Sarajevo.

Kempson's Reds' team-mate, Carl Tremarco, withdrew from the squad to be with his partner who is due to give birth to their first child, and his involvement at Grays could depend on the timing of the birth.
