Brown picked himself up after being brought down in the area to convert Wrexham's third goal from the penalty spot against Ebbsfleet.
Jefferson Louis, who scored the first two goals, missed Wrexham's only other penalty this season in the victory against Oxford and had already been substituted, but Brown was determined to take over spot-kick responsibilities.
"Obviously it is good to get off the mark," said Brown. "I have been coming close in recent games but it is fortunate I managed to get one today, and we have won as well so it is an extra bonus.
"As soon as I won the penalty I knew I was going to take it. Michael Proctor tried to get it off me but there was no chance I was going to let him have it.
"Jefferson has taken one penalty and he missed. I said I wanted the next one and luckily for me I managed to get it and score it."
Brown, a summer signing from Mansfield, had not scored since he converted a hat-trick in the Stags' 5-0 win against Macclesfield in November last year, but he was not getting concerned at the goal drought.
"I have been coming close but you try not to let things get on you," said Brown. "There is no point letting your head do down. All you can do is get your head down and work hard.
"I have just kept plugging away and it paid off today."
Brown was delighted Wrexham recovered from two successive defeats to beat Ebbsfleet.
"Obviously you want to bounce back at the first hurdle but we did not do that last week and we are just grateful we got the points today after losing our first home game," added Brown. "We have conceded two more sloppy goals but we have just dug in as a team and managed to come out with the points.
"The referee was a bit iffy but you can't really blame the ref, you just have to get on with it and we are just thankful we won."
