DEAN SAUNDERS has not ruled out making up to two new signings before Wrexham entertain York City at The Racecourse tomorrow.
Dean Saunders got his reign as Wrexham manager off to a winning start when the Reds beat Forest Green Rovers 3-2 at The New Lawn on Saturday.

Wrexham twice came from a goal behind thanks to a Marc Williams double before leading scorer Jefferson Louis scored in injury time to secure victory.

And Saunders, hoping a bumper crowd will be present for his first home game in charge, could have one or maybe two new faces on show with former Reds' midfielder Dave Brammer – in the last year of his contract at Millwall – training with the club yesterday.

"I hope people come and kids come," said Saunders today. "Kids who are playing Playstations we need to be Wrexham fans and once you are a Wrexham fan, you'll be a Wrexham fan forever.

"We have got to get them in the stadium like a 12th man.

"It will be a good occasion and I am going to get some better players as well. If I see someone who can improve us I will bring him in.

"I can't bring loads and loads in but we can get players in on loan, and January we can look at it again.

"I might have a couple in by Tuesday but if not, that three points gives us a bit of breathing space as well.

"We have got a bit nearer the top and we are going to climb our way up there. And the team at the top, I am still hopeful we can catch them."

And Saunders has pledged to keep working hard to get Wrexham where he wants to be: "I said at the start of the week to the players, if you want to come with me where I am going, but a red shirt on and fight," he added.

"The 11 who started have got the first bite of the cherry and they must be knocking at my door if I don't pick them tomorrow so that is what I want.

"If we had even got beat today, the effort and the way they tried to play was all I can ask. Hopefully we can carry this on now and hopefully there is a big crowd tomorrow.

"We want to go out and play exactly as we did. I am not going to accept anything else so we can be pleased tonight but tomorrow (Sunday) we are back in training, and we are working again.

"We are going to work on what went wrong out there when we gave the goals away"

Saunders admitted he endured a few nervous moments after Wrexham scored the winning goal in the second minute of injury time: "I don't' know about what a start!" he said. "My first two minutes in management I thought what is this all about.

"It was a terrible goal to give away.

"To come back from behind twice and win in the last minute in these conditions against the wind was great, but I was panicking every time a long ball got hit down the middle of our back four today. I was not sitting there very comfortably and we have got something to work on.

"In injury time with a minute to go I was trying to get on the pitch and head one of those corners out if I could have!"

Saunders admitted there is room for improvement but was delighted with Wrexham's fighting spirit: "I am not a magician. Things are going to need addressing," he added.

"They have been losing for a long, long time and we have got to build a team where we don't concede those goals, and we get more crosses in.

"We just have to keep improving but if you haven't got the fighting spirit and stomach for the fight like we had today, then you can do whatever you like in training."

And Saunders paid tribute to two-goal Williams: "I think the first goal Thierry Henry would have been proud of that," he added. "It was a great cross from Neil Taylor and a great header. Marc was in the right place, headed it down and it would not have looked out of place on Match of the Day.

"The second goal was a great as well. He got inside the full-back and sometimes when your luck is out you hit them so well they go straight at the keeper, but he got a bit of slice on it and it went in the corner.

"And then the big fellow Jeff robbed his hat-trick off him. I don't know whether it was going in but it looked like it was."

- Wrexham are offering a special discount for supporters attending tomorrow's game against York City (7.45pm), admission is £10 for adults, £5 for seniors and young persons (16-21), and children under 16 will be let in free.

No advanced ticketing is required, just pay at the turnstiles.
