Time to tighten up insists Foyle

MARTIN FOYLE wants Wrexham to eliminate slack defending from set-pieces when Wrexham return to action at Grays Athletic on Saturday.
First team coach Foyle is unhappy with the amount of goals Wrexham have leaked from set-pieces this season and has been eager to address the problem in training at Colliers Park this week.

"We have been a bit sloppy on set-pieces and that is not like us," said Foyle. "I did not think it was a problem when I first came in. It was general mistakes we were making then but sloppiness at set-pieces has been creeping in.

"We have conceded from set-pieces in our last two matches and there could have been one or two other times we got caught.

"Four of the nine goals we have conceded have come from set-pieces so we need to cut that out of our game.

"People will switch off and you have to go back out there and rehearse, and the response has been good.

"If we can eliminate it, people will find it hard to score past us."

Wrexham end the month with two home matches - against Rushden & Diamonds and Torquay United - following Saturday's match against Grays at The Recreation Ground, and Foyle believes six points from the treble header would put Wrexham among the Blue Square Premier frontrunners.

"We have got to aim to win two on the bounce," added Foyle. "You can say win all three games but we can't be greedy as we have not won two on the trot.

"I believe if we win two out of three we will be in the top three, and well and truly in the pack then."
