It's your Xbawkses. I don't care if they read other disks, if they play other games, etc. Chances are, Halo 3 is as big as 3 other games, and is just simply more pure awesome than your decaying disk drive can handle.

Replace your Xbawkses.

My uncle is having the same problem, its playing everything but halo 3...
Im pretty sure they already knew that there was a problem but have been trying to fix it. I know everyone(or mostly everyone) just got halo but I would say just be patient, im sure they will get this bug fixed...

I'm Ready To Finish The Fight ...Are You?

I dont expect a patch but I would just like to have a statement from bungie that they are aware of the problem

Just got off the phone with microsoft and they told me to do this and it worked.

Take Halo 3 out of xbox.

On dashboard go to system, select memory, tap Y X X LB RB X X.

Prompts to perform maintenance, select A, this clears your cache.

After its finished, put Halo 3 in your xbox, pull out the net cable, turn off your xbox and back on.

Try the game now, if it doesnt work sorry, but it worked for me.

If it works for you add me and we'll play halo 3

Um... it's my 4 day old 360 Elite that's causing the disk read erorrs? What do you suggest I replace a 4 day old xbox with?

Try to keep up with the problem Tidy... The disks are the problem and the failure rate is off the chart.

Join the club people. There are maybe 10 other threads that are exactly the same. I guess I'll try initial setup and I already did the cache memory thing, but not the unplugging of the cable. I doubt it'll work, but any hope is welcome.

Well I think I have the same problem but it only happens in this scenerio:

When you start campaign it plays the first scene and right when you are about to start the level (when after the arbiter scene) it says "unable to read disc"

Now I tried 3 disc on it and it has the same problem. But When I set the thing to "Local" I managed to play a little bit of the level (with no sounds) until it said "Unable to read disc again'

-DS

Mine just said that in the beginning of the Ark after the cutscene. I just took it out and cleaned the disk...worked fine after...then i played nultiplayer and experienced no problems...and my disk is scratched too..
