After graduating from college, he served as a radio air-personality, news anchor and program director for companies including Westinghouse, Viacom, Bonneville, and Evergreen Media.

Steve was a broadcaster in such diverse markets as Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, Phoenix, Saint Louis, and Washington D.C. He also worked as a news anchor and business reporter for WCIU-TV in Chicago.

Since joining the VOA Sports team, Steve has covered a number of international events, including the 1997 World Track and Field Championships in Athens and the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada and the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games in Australia.
