Blueberries cooks up a new kind of Racine breakfast
Greasy, high-fat meals are an occasional treat, but certainly not the way to start your day on a regular basis. This is where Blueberries, a new breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant at 522 6th St. in downtown Racine, fills a void. Owner Lauren Bell opened her small, cash-only café in summer 2008 as a refreshing alternative to the city's usual players.

Classic Kewpee cooks up doll-icious eats
Kewpee -- also called "The Kewpee" -- is a Racine dining gem featuring great grill food and 300-400 Kewpie dolls. Somehow, despite all the dolls, Kewpee gets away without being the least bit creepy. It's bright and upbeat and almost always packed with a variety of customers from all walks of life.

Racine's transit system has just become the most enlightened in the region. Installing bike racks on the front of buses was all it took.
