Justin Dew's Blog

Justin Dew has been handicapping horses and following the Kentucky Derby trail for 17 years. His Derby Day triumphs include a few huge exactas exactas, including the Giacomo-Closing Argument combination that returned over $9,800 in 2005. His top selection for the 2006 Derby, Bluegrass Cat, ran 2nd but keyed an exacta with Barbaro that returned over $500.

Recently, Justin's thoughts and observations were showcased in the blog on the Fair Grounds Race Course website. On one occasion earlier in the meet, he gave out a $4 Pick 3 combination that returned over $5,000. The biggest score of his handicapping career came in 2004 at Keeneland, when he hit a Pick 4 that paid over $21,000 for a $2 bet.

Justin is also an avid player of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager. He played Monarchos at 17-1 in 2001, and Giacomo at 50-1 in 2005. He describes himself as a "value bettor who rarely plays favorites."

Justin is a 1998 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, and currently resides in Reston, Virginia.
