Lady GaGa's "Just Dance" featuring Colby O'Donis (Interscope)
started a second week as the U.K.'s No. 1 single yesterday (Jan.
18), while its parent album, "The Fame," debuted at No. 3 on the
U.K. album chart.
Irish pop-rock band the Script returned to the albums summit with
its self-titled debut for Phonogenic/Sony BMG. The set has so far
yielded three U.K. top 40 hits in "We Cry," "The Man Who Can't Be
Moved" and "Break Even." The debut was released last August and
spent its first two weeks at No. 1, and returns there in its 23rd
chart week.
Kings of Leon's "Only by the Night" (Hand Me Down/Sony BMG) fell
back to No. 2 on the album chart, while Jason Mraz improved 22-11
with "We Sing We Dance We Steal Things (Atlantic/Warner Music), as
his single "I'm Yours climbed 34-28. U.K. girl pop band the
Saturdays' debut album, "Chasing Lights"
(Fascination/Polydor/Universal) enjoyed a 36-14 climb as its latest
hit single, "Issues," jumped 6-4.
Lady GaGa's singles success continued despite a strong No. 2 debut
for Cleveland rap-electro artist Kid Cudi's "Day and Night" (Data),
credited in its remix form to Kid Cudi vs. Crookers. There were
also top 10 climbs for "Let It Rock (Universal Island) by Kevin
Rudolf featuring Lil Wayne (10-5), Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a
Ring on It) (Columbia/Sony BMG) (8-7) and Girls Aloud's "The Loving
Kind (Fascination/Polydor/Universal), 29-10.
Lady Gaga also debuted at No. 30 on the singles chart with her
scheduled follow-up to "Just Dance," "Poker Face."
Katy Perry is in a second week atop Eurochart Hot 100 Singles with
"Hot N Cold" (Virgin/EMI), while Duffy's "Rockferry"
(A&M/Universal) returned to the European Top 100 Albums summit
in its 45th chart week.
