Facebook: Do's and Don'ts of Online Relationships

Facebook is the frat party you dreaded going to in college. You know it's going to be ugly. You know it's going to be creepy. You know you're going to stay way too long or do things you'll probably regret. But you have to be there because, well, everyone else...

ABC's True Beauty is Not So Cute

10 Comments | Posted January 6, 2009 | 02:28 PM (EST)

My mind is mush this morning. Why, you ask? Nope, it's not the lack of sleep and over indulgence of party-times from last week. It's that I forced myself to watch ABC's new reality show True Beauty last night.

Now I'm a smart gal right? So I should have...

As a stand-up comedian, I have a good sense of humor and I'm damn certain that WayOutTV's Abortion Man video is not funny. It's sick. It's sad. It's on a site created by Damon Wayans. You know Damon Wayans? He had that lovely family oriented show called My...

Please, No More Amore

Posted March 4, 2008 | 08:31 PM (EST)

I know. I know. Why would I waste 60 minutes of my life watching the latest cable dating shit show That's Amore?

Well it was actually just 35 minutes as I DVR'd it and watched it in fast forward while shoving really cheap Chinese food down my throat....

Superman that New Year!

Posted January 2, 2008 | 06:30 PM (EST)

I spent New Years eve at the Marriot in Orlando. My husband had a business trip so I decided to join him and take advantage of a free hotel stay.

The evening began with a hilariously depressing dinner at Hooters. It was 9pm and all the nicer eateries had...

Merry Mail

It's early December and once again I am faced with the same dilemma: do I or don't I send out Holiday cards?

I know, I know, it's a difficult decision. I mean, all that writing. All those stamps. All that envelope licking.

It's always...

I picked a fight with a co-worker two weeks ago. I was in the office kitchen making a peanut butter and banana sandwich when I overheard the following exchange.

Man: "Shoot! There is no more water in the bubbler."

Woman: "Oh no!"

Man: "I...

As I was walking to the subway this morning, I heard a man call out "Yo! Can I get five minutes wit you?"

He was at least 25 years old, if not older. He wore ridiculously baggy jeans, an over-sized leather Jets bomber jacket (even though it was 60 degrees...

In case you hadn't heard Owen Wilson is sad and tried to kill himself.

This ignited a slew of gossip magazine and entertainment news shows to do some very special reports on the growing number famous folks who are "depressed."

When email killed the telephone part of me was thrilled. I mean, how fantastic to be able BCC the masses with just a few clicks? To Evite your 400 closest pals to your party? To type rather than talk your way out of awkward conversations?

However the other part...

Dear World Wide Web: I Love/Hate You

Dear World Wide Web,

I love/hate you. I am jealous that I will never know nearly as much as you, but I also don't believe everything you say. You simultaneously connect people through faster communication and disconnect people by minimizing the need for actual human contact. Without you I...

Once upon a time, I was a glam rock girl.

Even though all the other chicks at my suburban upper-white middle class junior high wore Benetton rugby's with khakis and stark white Keds, I insisted on sporting a denim jacket with white pleather tassels and an army of pins representing...

As a young, broke, cute clothes-hoarding gal it is no surprise I was an avid Forever 21 customer.
