Since I discovered that many blogs at HuffPO are monitored in such a way that comments with even the most limited form of dissent to the viewpoint of the blogger are automatically trash canned, I pretty much stopped reading or commenting on the material there.
The news articles are still worth a visit and a comment, serious, witty, argumentative or joshing.
It's a shame. I would have expected this kind of conduct from rightwing reactionaries. I forgot their daft left wing ilk are just the same.
If this sounds like sour grapes, perform a simple test. Take blog articles at random. count the agree, mostly agree, mostly disagree, and the disagree comments first, then read the article. Think about how abnormal the distribution of comment viewpoints is.
Then try writing one of each kind of comment. post them one at a time an hour or so apart. See what gets posted. I performed these tests. As a result I'm very confident in my assertions.
If you're interested in adding some dimension to this excursion into primitive sociology, perform the counting procedure on a "news" article with the same subject as the blog you checked. Ponder the differences in your results.
