The big fashion trend of Oscar night 2009 was the same as it was last year - that is to say, one-shouldered gowns were once again the choice of Hollywood stylists and their clients. But unlike last year, these gowns were far more interesting, embellished and unusual. Red, white and black were the colors of the moment, and larger-than-life necklaces nearly stole the thunder of the clothes in some cases. It wasn't that hard to choose the top five gowns (although there were a few notable runners-up). These were some of our favorites of the evening.
