Few honors mean as much to an artist as induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Since 1986, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has debated and voted, slowly enshrining those who have shaped a popular art form that has had a profound impact on culture. This year, Black Sabbath, Blondie, Miles Davis, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Sex Pistols and A&M; Records founders Herb Alpert & Jerry Moss will join the ranks of the elite.
The ceremony will be held March 13 at New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel; the event will be taped by VH1, which will premiere the show's highlights March 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
In this special section, Billboard honors the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2006 and salutes the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, which not only heralds inductees, but seeks to preserve artifacts of an ongoing revolution for future generations.
