We live in a stressful world. Luckily, a regular yoga practice can help reduce tension.
The next time you feel stressed, try the following ancient yogic techniques:
First, slow down the breath. Turn the senses inward, away from all visual and auditory stimulation. Try to eat or sit in silence, and explore turning off that cell phone.
Then spend a few minutes resting in Savasana (Corpse Pose). Lay on the floor with your knees bent, slowly inhale, and release both legs flat to the floor. Release the arms to the floor, and turn them outward, stretching them away from the shoulder blades. Rest the backs of the hands on the floor. Stay in this pose for at least five minutes, then slowly sit up.
