How I long for the days of Dennis Getto. Since when did being a food critic require you to appease the owners. The point of a restaurant review is to critique a restaurant and provide readers with information about a dinning experience.
Currently, I feel as though every review I read is a fluff piece, with writers barely commenting on the negative. If a restaurant received two stars I would expect the review to be anything but glowing.
Those who read reviews in the area know that there are several magazines and newspapers that have been relied on as the place to read restaurant reviews, but now I can no longer rely on the critics and must turn to the patrons.
The only outlet I feel I can read real reviews are from the people who take the time to write about it themselves, people who may not have any writing or culinary experience. I feel like joe-shmo is more credible than the so-called critics.
