Instructions for Use
Our team is committed to ensuring the highest possible degree of user-friendliness for our services. To this end, we carry out usability and accessibility tests on a regular basis. At the same time we are keen to involve wien.at users. Additionally, we work with accessible media, an interest group working for barrier-free web design.

Searching wien.at
A search field is displayed at the top right of almost every wien.at page. Just type in your search term and press ENTER to perform a full text search on wien.at. If you want to extend your search to other contents, use the link "Advanced Search". This allows you to search the archives of the municipal newsletter rathaus-korrespondenz, the foreign press review and the minutes of the Vienna City Council and Provincial Parliament meetings.
Accessibility
As everybody needs to have access to public contents, wien.at is committed to ensure barrier-free access to its internet services. We have therefore complied with WAI guidelines (minimum level A). These guidelines are recommended by W3C, a web consortium that aims to improve the accessibility of web content.
We try to avoid technologies that make it difficult or even impossible for special user groups to access our services. Where this is not possible, we try to offer alternatives so nobody is denied access to information.
In order to enable the blind and visually impaired access to ongoing official proceedings, it is possible to order file contents electronically (German only).
To ensure high accessibility, most wien.at pages follow a standard structure. The text sequence is optimised for text browsers, and navigation is very easy thanks to tab marks that should be recognised by standard screen readers or text browsers. The standard structure used for most wien.at pages is as follows:

If you are unable to locate the tab marks, try deactivating style sheets (CSS) in your web browser.
Every content page has at least one header (H1 or H3). Your screen reader enables you to directly jump to individual headers.
