Judgment made on March 31, 2009: Facebook is replacing its chief financial officer Gideon Yu, which means this prediction came true. Betters got this right.  -- The Industry Standard

A year ago Facebook was the hot startup to work for and hired away top Google execs like Sheryl Sandberg and communications guru Elliot Schrage. Now the trend is core Facebook talent like cofounder Dustin Moskovitz, former star Google engineer Benjamin Ling and VP of product management Matt Cohler are leaving the maturing startup.

The latest Facebook defection is Net Jacobsson, who led the social networking site's business development efforts. With microblogging site Twitter replacing Facebook as the hottest startup in Silicon Valley, could more Facebook executives be on the move?

Prediction: A Facebook executive will leave the company by September 1, 2009. A announcement made by Sept. 1 that an executive is leaving will be sufficient for this prediction to be judged favorably. A list of Facebook executives is listed here.

Done deal. Gideon Yu (CFO) is out.

Facebook official statement (reported by AllThingD)

“Facebook confirms that CFO Gideon Yu will be leaving the company. Gideon has played an important role in helping us achieve our financial success, building a strong finance team and establishing the core financial operations of our company. We are grateful to Gideon for his contributions to Facebook and what we are trying to accomplish. Despite the poor economic climate, we are pleased that our financial performance is strong and we are well positioned for the next stage of our growth. We have retained Spencer Stuart to lead our search for a new CFO and will be looking for someone with public company experience.”
