The House of Luxembourg was a mediæval Luxembourgian noble family. In 1308, Henry, Count of Luxembourg, became German king, his son, John of Luxembourg, shortly afterwards received the Bohemian crown. The dynasty's rule in the Holy Roman Empire was interrupted by the Wittelsbach twice. With the death of Emperor Sigismund, the dynasty died out and was succeeded by the Habsburgs.
