I have changed my gamertag from heyyou2843 to UC Robbie

So with the announcement of Halo:Reach, and in a weekly update they stated they aren't making anything new for the Halo Series, then Halo Reach is announced.

So that gets me wondering, is Bungie ever going to create it's own IP , which they would own and no parent company controlling it?

Or are we going to be stuck with the Halo IP for a while, It's not that I don't like the Halo IP I love it!

It's just that, I hate that Microsoft controls the Halo IP.

It's creepy enough that people stalk Bungie via Webcams, but it's even worse how they stalk back.

I want them to make something new. Reminiscent of the old days of Marathon though. Something with Bungie written all over it and no other company can touch. Something dark, mysterious, and will keep you going for days finding all the little secrets hidden within the storyline. Something that will be awesome and all levels.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Do want new universe. That'd make me 10x happier than any new Halo game would. It'd be like starting from the beginning of the Halo CE days, fleshing out every little thing about the new universe for days, weeks, months and years...

As BobBQ said in another thread, Bungie hasn't released a non halo game since January 2001 which is pretty sad.

When they said that wasn't all in E3 I was expecting a new IP. Personally, I've had enough with Spartans. I want something new. That is why ODST appealed to me.

I was hoping for a new IP too, but hopefully H:R will be the last Halo. When it is done Halo will have been going for ten years almost.

A new IP would have been awesome and I'm a little disappointed but I'll get over it.

I'm sure that both of these new games they are going to be putting out will be fantastic and I can hardly wait to get my hands on ODST,the campaign looks great.

Ferrex what does lolcats armor stand for?
Low light camouflage for tracking/surveillance. Ideal for watching someone through, say, a hole in the ceiling.

I made a thread about this in the Halo: Reach forum. It probably belonged here. Nonetheless, I am disappointed that no new IP was released because that was what I wanted to see. I have many problems with the PR of ODST and the decision to make Halo: Reach.

I'd imagine work on the Halo IP was part of the terms of their split. Either that, or being newly independent they need a reliable money maker to kick things off again. Either way, I'm pretty sure two full priced Halo titles will put the studio in pretty good financial position to experiment.

Personally, I really like what I've seen from ODST, but would have also preffered their next big project was something new. Oh well, I was hoping for a Halo-style shooter that wasn't Halo. A Halo-style shooter that is Halo will be OK :)
