Community Spotlight - PraetoriaGuard
The fine folk over at PraetoriaGuard have been waiting patiently for their turn in the Community Spotlight.  As the saying goes, all good things come to those who wait.  Which is about like saying, stand under a tree long enough and a branch will probably fall and hit you on the head - some things are just inevitable.  What were we talking about?  Oh yes, PraetoriaGuard.  The Community Spotlight and all that.

We've thrown down against these guys twice now in Humpday Challenges, so we're pretty familiar with the quality of players they can field, both in terms of skill and character, but we thought it was high time you got to know them too.  If a group of players focused on fair play sounds like something you're interested in, scroll down and learn more about PraetoriaGuard, in their own words.

The PraetoriaGuard
was founded on the principles of fair play, good sportsmanship, and family values. We exist to house good gamers with a good home, where we can share best practices in gaming, as well as life in general. We've just celebrated our fourth anniversary, and we can honestly say we will easily be here for another four.

We have many members who have traveled long distances to meet up in real life, others that go to college together, and some who just want to game with a great group online. We've become an extended family to each other. We've gone through many changes over the years, formed great alliances, and ruffled plenty of feathers too.

We've always produced a PG LIVE series, and even though it's been awhile, I'm sure we will see more of those soon as well. We've been fortunate enough to play in two Humpdays with the Bungie crew and although we won both, it didn't matter. It was awesome enough just to hear Luke yell at Frankie.

Q. What are your favorite maps?

A. Default Foundry, Valhalla, High Ground, The Pit, and well...let's stop beating around the bush. They're all good, it just depends on what gametype, how many people, etc. It would be impossible to pick just one, but if we were stranded on a host and could only pick one map, it would probably be Valhalla. The detail on that map is beyond epic. You can take a nature hike to watch the falls, lazily float the river with some good brew or kill each other for hours on end with all kinds of toys.

Q. Favorite Gametypes?

A. The PraetoriaGuard is fairly diverse in this respect. Some lean toward objectives, others prefer Slayer. In the end, we never veto 1 Flag, Multi Flag, or Neutral Bomb on maps such as Valhalla, Last Resort, The Pit, Avalanche, etc. But again, it just depends on the mood for the evening. We can play anything and have fun with it.

Q. What would you like to see in Matchmaking that isn't?

A. With the recent Playlist updates that were announced, we are actually pretty satisfied with what is and will be available. Many of our members still miss Fiesta/Grifball and Multiteam (3 man teams), however, Bungie has done a great job listening to the community's gripes and adjusting their Playlists to help sate people's, at times, outlandish requests. With the six person Push-to-Talk feature, the only Playlist that you still have to hit D-pad to talk is Big Team Battle, which in my opinion, is fine.

Biggest gripe about social BTB is getting split up. Maybe a "keep party together" option, if that is even plausible.

Unfortunately, we can't keep this party together any longer.  Time is up.  We've got to split, pardon the pun.  Thanks to the folks over at PraetoriaGuard for pressing up to talk and giving us an inside look into what makes them tick.  We look forward to throwing down with them sometime soon.  If you want to see what they have on offer in Bungie Favorites, they've uploaded a few of their favorites for you to sample.
