Does Acid on the Leaves Affect Plants Faster Than Acid in the Soil?

Hypothesis
I think that the plant with acid on the leaves will be effected or killed faster.
Purpose
I wanted to find out if  plants were effected or killed faster when acid was sprayed on their leaves or when acid was watered into the soil.  To find this out  I set up 3 plants and sprayed one with lemon juice, watered one with lemon juice and watered the last with water.  I found that  acid on the leaves will effect and kill a plant  faster.

Materials
  • 3 plants - the same plant and almost the same height
  • 3 lemons
  • Jar
  • Spray bottle
  • Water
Procedure
1)Set up 3 plants where they will receive about the same sun light
2) Take the jar and fill it with 25 ounces of water
3) Add 1/4 cup of lemon juice
4) Next  take the spray bottle and fill it with 25 ounces of water
5) Add 1/4 cup lemon juice
6) Spray plant 1 till all the leaves are wet
7) Plant 1 should be watered with 1/4 cup water
8) Next fill a 1/4 cup of the water with acid
9) Then pour it into plant 2
10) Fill a 1/4 cup with water without acid
11) Pour the water into plant 3
12) Repeat this every other day
Data
This is a journal of what happened  everyday as I observed my plants
Day 1 - I set up my plants and watered them
Day 2 - 21 - No change
Day 22 - Two leaves are being eaten away at
Day 23 - 39 - No change
Day 40 - No change so I deciede to make the acid concentration stronger.  To do this I start to water plant 2 with straight  lemon juice and spray plant 1 with straight lemon juice.  I  also start to water the plants everyday
Day 41 -42- No change
Day 43 - Many leaves are dying and are being eaten away at

Conclusion
My hypothesis  was right.  The plant I sprayed with acid was affected faster .  The plant that was watered with lemon juice was being affected some by the acid.  Acid rain will affect the leaves of a plant faster than acid in the soil.
