Rihanna and Brown want protection order removed

Former lovers Rihanna and Chris Brown reportedly are looking to have a court-ordered protection order banning the pair from contacting one another lifted because they want to work on their friendship.

A Los Angeles Supreme Court judge sentenced Brown to community service and probation on Monday after he pleaded guilty to assaulting the Rihanna following an altercation in February that left Rihanna battered and bruised.

Brown was also told he must stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna and keep a distance of 10 yards from her if they attend the same event.

But the stars are reportedly eager to have the ban removed because they consider it "unnecessary" and have already broken the order by patching things up over the phone.

A source close to the pair tells the New York Daily News, "They think it's unnecessary and ridiculous.

"After (the court proceeding) Ri and Chris talked on the phone for almost an hour and really worked at becoming friends. They're solid now."

However, the insider insists the stars are not interested in reviving their romance: "That's 100 percent done. They aren't looking to hook back up again. They're both moving on and going their separate ways."

The former couple reunited briefly following their pre-Grammy fight, but split soon afterwards. Rihanna has since been romantically linked to rising rapper Drake.

Professor wants Pitt as New Orleans mayor

AP Photo/Francois Mori, file

A top Louisiana scholar has launched an Internet campaign to promote Brad Pitt as the Mayor of his adopted New Orleans.

Tulane University professor Dr. Thomas Bayer feels sure the movie star would make a great elected city leader, and he has listed his "13 Reasons Brad Pitt Should Be Mayor" online. He's dedicated to Pitt's public office potential.

His reasons include, "If we elect Brad Pitt mayor, Angelina Jolie would be the First Lady of New Orleans," and, "Publicity and photo opportunities will chase our Mayor, instead of the Mayor chasing publicity and photo opportunities."

Professor Bayer also points out, "We will not have to rename a street to honor his name, as Pitt Street already exists."

He hopes his efforts will prompt Pitt, who moved his family to New Orleans shortly after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, to add his name to the mayoral ballot for the April, 2010 election.

And Bayer isn't alone -- top city businessman Josh Harvey has had "Brad Pitt for Mayor" T-shirts printed.

Pitt shot "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" in New Orleans and has donated money to rebuild housing in the devastated 9th Ward of the city.

Pattinson film set disrupted by crumbling building

Production on Robert Pattinson's forthcoming movie "Remember Me" was thrown into chaos on Wednesday when firefighters rushed to the New York set to investigate a crumbling building.

The "Twilight" hunk is currently shooting the film in downtown Manhattan, but work was delayed when a crack in the wall of an old property nearby widened, setting off warning alarms placed to monitor the damage.

Five fire engines and a 20-strong crew of firefighters attended the scene to get the situation under control, and the disruption caused a number of problems for the film crew, which attempted to shoot around the commotion.

An on-set source tells OK magazine, "It's causing a hold-up for the shoot. We can't get anything in or out of here."

However, actor Pattinson refused to let the interruption interfere with his job.

An onlooker says, "Robert was concentrating on his scene. But most of the crew were staring nervously at the crack in the building and talking about whether it will fall down or not."

Screen legend Dame Elizabeth Taylor sparked a medical emergency of her own on Thursday when she collapsed in her Hollywood home after hearing about the tragic death of her longtime friend Michael Jackson.

A representative for Taylor, who coined the phrase King of Pop as she presented him with an award in 1989, claimed the Oscar-winner was "too devastated" to comment on the superstar's death in the hours following the shocking news.

But it's now emerged the actress, 77, is recovering from her own health scare, which prompted her personal physician to make a late visit to her home on Thursday.

According to In Touch magazine, Taylor was preparing to dash to UCLA Medical Center in California to be by Jackson's bedside when she was told of his untimely demise.

A source says, "Liz was getting dressed when the second call came that Michael had died, and she collapsed. Liz is in a state of shock.

"She and Michael had their ups and downs, but she never stopped loving him. Now, she's grief-stricken beyond words."

Feldmen filled with remorse over broken Jackson friendship

Former child star Corey Feldman is wracked with guilt following the death of Michael Jackson, because he never had the chance to mend his broken friendship with the late legend.

Jackson befriended "The Goonies" actor as a teen, and the pair was often seen together at Hollywood events decked out in similar outfits.

However, their friendship began to falter as Feldman grew older, and the pair dramatically severed their relationship in 2001.

Feldman was even called to testify at Jackson's child molestation trial in 2005, and although he denied the star had abused him as a youth, he went on to slam his former mentor, reportedly saying, "He did real damage in my overall life. Michael would sit and talk to me for hours and he would listen. Then, he would get bored."

But Feldman has been left grief-stricken since learning of the singer's death from a heart attack on Thursday, insisting they missed their chance to reconcile.

In a statement to TMZ.com, he writes, "I come to you today with great sadness, acknowledging the loss of the greatest entertainer in the history of mankind. For me he was more than that, he was my idol, he was a role model, he was someone to cry to when my childhood was unbearable, he was a brother, he was a dear friend.

"Unfortunately Michael and I had a falling out on September 10, 2001 and that broken friendship had never been repaired. I have stayed close with his family through the years.

"As a matter of fact my wife and I attended LaToya's birthday thrown by Janet three weeks ago. ... Michael was supposed to be there and we were supposed to try and talk things out. Michael didn't show because he was stuck in rehearsals for his upcoming tour.

"I am filled with tremendous sadness and remorse. All I choose to remember from this point is the good times we shared and what an inspiration he was to me and the rest of the world. Nobody will ever be able to do what Michael Jackson has done in this industry, and he was so close to doing it all again."

Madonna was planning surprise appearance at Jackson's London show

Madonna was making plans to take to the stage for a one-off performance with Michael Jackson at his 50-date London residency.

Despite a reportedly frosty relationship, following a planned duet that never materialized, Madonna was desperate to join the late King of Pop onstage at the 02 Arena in London.

Dates were due to start in July, and Madonna was all set to be a special guest, according to her manager Guy Oseary.

In a post on his Twitter.com blog, Oseary says, "A month ago Madonna told me she wanted to do a surprise performance at one of Michael Jackson's UK shows."

Jackson was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical Center on Thursday.

The Material Girl, 50, became the female equivalent of the "Thriller" superstar as they were propelled to phenomenal levels of fame in the 1980s.

The pair accompanied each other to the 1991 Oscars, with Madonna dressed in full Marilyn Monroe mode, famously leading a less-confident Jackson down the red carpet. (Click here for a pic.)

Rumors even suggested the pop supercouple was an item, but Madonna killed that story by romancing Warren Beatty.

Latifah proud to be body image role model

AP Photo/Dan Steinberg, file

Rapper/actress Queen Latifah has finally accepted her body after years of struggling with her weight, because she is proud to be a role model to young girls who are worried about their size.

The voluptuous star has long been plagued by fears about her bodyshape and recently signed up as a spokeswoman for a diet program that has seen her shed a few pounds.

Although she has retained her curves, Queen Latifah admits she is now happy with her "plus-size" figure and credits a chance conversation with a chauffeur for giving her some confidence back.

She says, "I was in Utah for the Sundance Film Festival. I was at the airport and the limo driver told me about his 12-year-old daughter, who wanted to be a singer and had a beautiful voice. However, her classmates were teasing her about her body and telling her she was never going to make it.

"She saw me perform on TV and I inspired her to sing again. She saw me and my appearance and my success and the great job I did. This was a 12-year-old kid whose dream had been halted by negative comments, but she saw me deliver a knock-out performance and it made her believe she could become successful too."

Latifah now hopes she can now inspire youngsters to learn to love their looks. She adds, "I have heard a lot of stories like that and they inspire me to keep going and keep being myself."

The "I Kissed a Girl" hitmaker has been battling a bout of influenza while on tour in Europe and has felt too ill to eat.

But as she recovers, the star's appetite has returned -- and she gave fans a glimpse into her dietary habits with a photograph of herself reclining in a bath with a margherita pizza on a tray.

Diaz taught Breslin to swear

Cameron Diaz has corrupted teen star Abigail Breslin -- the Hollywood actress taught the youngster to swear.

The 36-year-old teams up with Breslin, 13, in the new movie "My Sister's Keeper" and needed to encourage the youngster to say a string of naughty words for a scene in the movie.

Diaz found it difficult to coax the expletives out of the teenager, because Breslin strongly disapproves of foul language, and even threatened the older actress with a "swear tin."

Diaz says, "I taught her how to say the F-word in every way possible. It was for a specific scene, so I told her mom, 'We just got Abby to curse.' She said, 'It's about time!' (I am) very well versed in the word and being able to utilize it. We had fun with Abby, but she threatened to fine us for cursing. I never paid her though."

Fawcett's son allowed to attend funeral

Farrah Fawcett's troubled son Redmond O'Neal has been granted permission by prison officials to attend his later mother's funeral, according to reports.

The former "Charlie's Angel" actress died on Thursday after losing her three-year battle with cancer at the age of 62.

O'Neal, whose father is Fawcett's longtime partner Ryan O'Neal, is currently undergoing intensive drug treatment in a remote California prison following his April arrest on drug charges.

The 24-year-old was only allowed out of prison to visit his cancer-stricken mother twice since he was locked up in April.

But Commissioner Jane Godfrey has signed a removal order which allows O'Neal to attend his late mother's funeral, according to RadarOnline.

The Web site reports O'Neal will be allowed to wear a suit rather than his jail clothing to pay his last respects.

In a progress report hearing last month Godfrey declared O'Neal was "responding well" to drug treatment and he is due back in court next month.

A date for Fawcett's funeral has yet to be announced.

Walsh's ex wants all financial prospects revealed

Matt Sayles / AP

Kate Walsh's estranged husband Alex Young has filed a court motion requesting the actress' TV bosses detail her future earning potential as he fights for a share of her assets.

The "Private Practice" star has been embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with Young since separating from him last year and ending their 14-month marriage.

The split has turned ugly in recent months and Walsh is trying to block her ex from claiming alimony, while he is attempting to expose the true value of the actress' assets in a bid to swing the judge's decision in his favor.

He is lobbying to have Stephen McPherson, president of the ABC network -- the company behind Walsh's medical drama -- deposed to reveal all about her wages and financial prospects, reports TMZ.com.

ABC's legal team are trying to have the proposed deposition blocked, claiming Young is "harassing" McPherson.

But Young is refusing to back down, and, in the latest round of legal papers filed in their ongoing divorce on Wednesday, his lawyer Jeff Sturman claims Walsh is set to earn a fortune through any future projects with the network -- and Young wants McPherson to reveal just how much he can expect to lay claim to.

He says, "Ms. Walsh is not a garden variety employee who received a weekly paycheck."

The spat between McPherson and Young is due to go before a judge on July 8.
