I feel a great sense of civic pride with every visit to Bradford Beach. The process of rebirth was long, but it's back, vibrant and one of the city's premier summer destinations.
This weekend is no different. And similar to every weekend (OnMilwaukee.com is a year-long sponsor at the beach), we'll be a part of two amazing events that are both full of fun, good people and good causes.
Last year, Pathfinders Teen Homeless Shelter hosted an evening soiree at the beach and this weekend it's back, and bigger and better than ever for B.E.D. (Because Every kid Deserves one). The group says that as many as 400 kids each night in Milwaukee are without a safe place to sleep, so this event raises funds and awareness for the cause.
Here's a full summary of the happenings. There are events on Friday, Saturday and a big brunch on Sunday.
Also on Saturday afternoon, while you're volley balling for B.E.D., hit the beach from 2-5 p.m. for OnMilwaukee.com's Bradford Beach Hut's Surfside Luau. A full-on day of food, drinks and games in the sand that's just outside the new Bradford Beach Hut.
Meet the Milwaukee Iron, taste cocktails from Bacardi Dragonberry and Jose Cuervo and at 5 p.m. watch the Milwaukee Iron battle Neutral Ground Dojo's MMA Fighters in a big "King Of The Beach" contest.
A full weekend, indeed. And honestly, if neither of these events trip your trigger, head to the beach anyway - the sites, sounds and food are amazing. Try the tacos at Bradford Beach and the burgers at Northpoint too. Both are mighty tasty.
