For New Visitors to PBGC.gov: What You Will Find Here and What You Won’t

Welcome to PBGC.gov! This brief introduction is intended to help you get started using our available information—and to help you avoid frustration, if you are looking for something not available on this Web site.

What’s Not Available Online

If you are in an ongoing pension plan insured by PBGC, please understand that we do not have any information specifically about you, your plan, or your benefit under that plan. We only gather this information when a plan ends and PBGC takes responsibility for benefit payments.  Unless this happens, you will find only general information on this site about our insurance programs and how they operate, including our guarantees.

If your plan does end, and is taken over (“trusteed”) by PBGC, we will at first only have limited information about the plan and your benefit.  More information will become available once we have had time to obtain and review your plan’s records, which will take at least a few months.

Navigating Our Site Multiple Ways

The tabs across the top of this page take you directly to information tailored to specific types of users (e.g., Workers & Retirees). When you click a link, the red band underneath it highlights information you might find especially useful in that section, as well as an A-Z Index and Contact Us page.

Or, you may try to find the specific information you need using the Search box located in the top right corner of each page.

Throughout the site you will see links to My PBA, our secure interactive service for handling common participant transactions. My PAA serves a similar purpose for plan administrators.
