THE STORY SO FAR: Since forming on Halloween of 2006 at the University of Illinois, Snowsera have been collecting raves around Illinois and were christened "Best New Band" and "Best Live Band" at the 2008 Champaign-Urbana Local Music Awards. They enlisted producer Brian Zieske (the Hush Sound, the Academy Is...) to record their debut EP. "We wanted to combine the smart pop elements of Michael Jackson, the bombast of Oasis and the manic energy of Nirvana," says guitarist Ian Erard.
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Don't know what a "snowsera" is? Neither do the band, who purposely chose a name without any predetermined meaning so that it would be open to the emotions and interpretations of each listener. The same goes for their melodic rock which appeals to fans across genres. "We just want to make music we love," says Erard. "And continue to hone our craft and play as many shows as possible."
