The votes are in, and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2009. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
Milwaukee has a variety of great Indian restaurants, but OnMilwaukee.com readers declared the East Side's Maharaja to be the very best.
The daily lunch buffet offers a large selection of Indian soups, vegetarian favorites like palak paneer (spinach cooked with homemade cheese), chicken and beef curries and gulab jamun -- those little fried dough balls dipped in sweet syrup.
Dinners at Maharaja feature an extensive East Indian menu crowded with curries, meats and breads baked in a traditional tandoori oven.
OnMilwaukee.com editors' choice: Bombay Sweets
Runners-up:
2. Taste of India
3. Mayura
4. Bombay Sweets
5. Tandoor
6. Saffron
7. Royal India
8. Bombay Louie's
9. Asian Delights
10. Ujala Tandoori

Crash: Aladin and Casablanca while delicious, are not Indian. They are Middle Eastern.

Aladdin and Casablanca didn't even make the top ten? While neither of those two may be 'top 5', they should have made the top ten...

Was this poll for real? Bombay Louie's is in Kenosha and serves American food. Asian Delight and Ujala have been closed for years. Anmol is a good Pakistani/Indian restaurant on Mitchell, but it didn't even get on the list? If I remember correctly, the same survey error was made last year. OMC, please update!
