Soundgarden to reunite after 12-year break

Alternative Press - Tim Karan on 1/1/10 @ 12:44 PM - altpress.com

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell has announced that the band are officially reuniting. The band broke up in 1997 and had released five studio albums, three of which had gone platinum. Cornell revealed in a tweet, "The 12 year break is over & school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!" He also linked to a new website.

Cornell spent much of the break fronting modern rock all-star team, Audioslave, and released three solo albums. This past March, the three other members of Soundgarden performed together at the Seattle stop of Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello's Justice Tour.

Cornell spoke about his days with Soundgarden and their reunion show without him in an episode of the AP Podcast last year.
