Cosplay Culture Invades Roppongi ?!

Who says cosplay is something you can do only in Akihabara? Come October 25, there will be a big cosplay party happening at A-life, a major club in Roppongi. Team Jyunjo from @home Cafe will be performing live and you'll get to meet celebrity guests such as Horiemon, Ami Tokito, Juichiro Nagashima and more. The main organizer of the event is Graphnetwork, a design and advertising firm whose aim is to make cosplay accessible to a wider audience by presenting cosplay in a different fashion and environment.

Says a representative from the company, "The main reason (for hosting the event at Roppongi) is that there is a large interest in cosplay, but while many people love Akiba culture, many people are also uncomfortable with it because Akihabara is a different area and scene for them. By holding the event in Roppongi it makes it easier for this group of people to come and join."

Incidently, the models used for Charapa (see below) are from egg magazine, a subculture magazine read by Shibuya girls or the gyaru. Using gyaru cosplaying models is another example of their efforts to make Charapa and cosplay fun for everyone and not restrict it to a specific social group.
