This is a WikiProject, a collaboration area and open group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of a particular topic, or to organizing some internal Wikipedia process. Please see the Guide to WikiProjects and the Directory of WikiProjects for more information.

• Make all lists conform to the standards of Featured list criteria
• Check through Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Lists
• Clean out Category:Lists that should be categories
• Disperse Category:Lists into their proper subcategories
• Create Wikipedia:Most wanted articles#Lists
• Reduce the number of inappropriate laundry lists
• Maintain Wikipedia:Contents and its subpages
• Make more lists to better organize Wikipedia articles
• Maintain and develop the list guidelines and help pages.

• The project covers all articles that are (and contain) lists. That includes those that are intended to aid in navigation through Wikipedia, and all articles whose intent is to gather disparate articles and info into useful groups.

[edit] Assessment

The assessment department gives details of our Quality and Importance statistics. This project will use only FL, List, and Stub for articles. Quality Classes such as Image, Template, Portal, Disambiguation, Category and Project will only be included in order to conform with the predefined Wikipedia:Namespace.

Currently, this project uses the Version 1.0 Editorial Team bot for article statistics. Therefore it has become necessary for the project create a Custom mask for Quality class. The Custom mask for WikiProject Lists limits class to FL, List, and Stub for articles, and automatically changes incorrect class codes.

After adding our Project Template to a talk page, you may run our Assessment bot by clicking Run the bot right away on the bot's User page. Type the word List in the Category field, then click Submit.

Because of Wikipedia's role as an almanac as well as an encyclopedia, it contains a large number of lists. Some lists, such as the primary pigment colors or the states of the United States of America, are typically complete and unlikely to change for a long time.

Some lists, however, are either not yet fully filled out or are difficult to keep current because the list is constantly changing. These are both referred to as incomplete lists. It's important that our readers understand that these lists should not be considered complete, or even representative of the class of items being listed. As such, we recommend inserting the {{Expand list}} tag either before or after any incomplete list.

It is our hope that other Wikipedians will pick up where we leave off, and add more items to the list, bringing it closer, if not to completion, then at least to a mature state in which only minor updates are required as times change. Of course, it's not clear for all lists what should or shouldn't be on it, and so completion may never be clear for these lists, but there should at least come a point where most representative and widely agreed upon entries are present...
