Jehovah’s Witnesses to hold district convention in KC

About 9,000 delegates from Missouri, Kansas and parts of Iowa are expected to attend a Jehovah’s Witnesses district convention next weekend in Kemper Arena.

Kansas City’s is one of 357 conventions that will take place in 90 American cities this summer; more than 1.7 million are expected to attend this summer’s gatherings. The theme is “Remain Close to Jehovah.”

A keynote address Friday morning will be “How Jehovah Draws Close to Us.” Friday afternoon will focus on the family’s relationship to God and each other. A highlight Saturday morning will be baptism.

On Sunday morning a series of talks will examine aspects of God’s personality, and a public discourse in the afternoon is titled “How Can You Draw Close to God?” A special feature Sunday afternoon will be a full-costume drama set in the first century.

The convention is open to the public. Admission is free, and no collections will be taken.
