The Star's Press Pavilion at 16th and McGee streets opened in 2006 and ranks as one of the finest printing facilities in the world. It also prints a Midwest edition of The Wall Street Journal.

• Our state-of-the-art KBA printing presses are so precise that they are used to print more than 90 percent of the world’s currency.
• Former Star employee Ernest Hemingway called our newsroom style sheet “the best rules I ever learned for the business of writing.”
• Famous Star alums include two U.S. presidents: Harry Truman (mailroom) and Theodore Roosevelt (correspondent).
• In 1930, legendary Star reporter A.B. Macdonald was asked to come to Amarillo, Texas, to investigate a murder. The 69-year-old reporter arrived by train, solved the murder in two days, wired the story home and won the Pulitzer Prize.
• Black and white and green all over: Our color ink is soy-based and we print on recycled newsprint. We recycle more than 400 tons of newsprint, aluminum plates and plastics monthly. Even our carpets are made of recycled corn fiber!
• The Star has been recognized with seven Pulitzer Prizes and a Special Citation. We’ve also won the Gold Cup as the best newspaper in Missouri for 14 of the last 15 years.

• Our Italian Renaissance-style headquarters at 18th Street and Grand Blvd. was touted as the largest newspaper office in the world when it opened in 1911. Jarvis Hunt, architect of Kansas City’s Union Station, designed it.
• Famed Italian cornetist Allesandro Liberati, bandleader for the Ringling Bros. circus, was so inspired by Star founder William Rockhill Nelson that he moved to Kansas City and wrote “The Kansas City Star March” in 1896. It later became the sign-on music for WDAF radio.
