ECLIPSE ROBERT PATTINSON X390 (PUBLICITY) | ADVOCATE.COM

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse: She doesn’t smoke, she doesn’t drink, and she doesn’t believe in premarital sex. And all those qualities come to the fore in Eclipse, the third in the series of film adaptations of Mormon author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight books. Unlike in the first two films, in Eclipse the characters seem to finally be growing up — you even get the sense of some sexual tension all around in the love triangle of Bella, Edward, and Jacob. And with Taylor Lautner near-nude on several occasions, the eye candy is most certainly out in full force.

THE LAST AIRBENDER X390 (PUB) | ADVOCATE.COM

The Last Airbender: No twist ending. No endlessly trying to figure out what the hell M. Night Shyamalan is talking about. For his latest film (an adaptation of an animated kids’ series), the director even keeps the run time to a cool 95 minutes to tell the story of a war of the elements. Reviews for the film have been poor, but based on early box office receipts, this promises to be Shyamalan’s most successful film since The Village.

LOVE RANCH HELEN MIRREN X390 | ADVOCATE.COM

Love Ranch: Helen Mirren plays a madam who, with her husband (Joe Pesci), opens Nevada’s first legal brothel. Gay favorites Gina Gershon and Leslie Jordan pop up in small roles, and you get the sense some of these hookers would rather be getting up close and personal with each other than their male clients. Taylor Hackford (Mirren’s real-life husband and the much-honored director of Ray) directs.

Mark, would you PLEASE shut the fuck up? Again--if you want the Advocate to focus on a specific type of film, then BUY THE MAGAZINE AND WEBSITE. Or, better yet, why don't YOU start up your own site so that you can present the films that YOU have determined to be the only ones acceptable for the community to watch? You know, Cruise may be a Scientologist but I've never seen a major movie with him in it that teaches/preaches Scientology. (It certainly wasn't on the menu in "Knight and Day"--unless every movie featuring spies/secret agents is some sort of code for Scientology.) And as for the comment about the films all having str8 characters, well gee whiz. If I want to see a film with all-gay characters, there's porn for that. (I haven't seen the Mexican film from the article, but I'd be VERY surprised if there weren't a few str8 characters in it--even a few in some major roles.)

I became gay when I was 8 years old and noticed a male classmate was extremely cute. I expect this Taylor Lautner will cause a lot of kids to become gay....j/k, I don't really know what causes the gay, but he sure could :)

    Comment:

Last week The Advocate promoted Tom Cruise's new film whose proceeds go to Scientology. This week they are promoting "Eclipse" whose proceeds go to the Mormon Church. These tax-exempt hate organizations (like the pedophile Catholic Church) spend their money to take away the civil rights of born gay/lesbian taxpayers. Why should we support them? Last week's and this week's (except for the Mexican film) Advocate movies had all straight characters. This, as well as actors lying about their sexual orientation, contribute to gay teen suicide, internalized homophobia (feeling of inferiority) in gay people, and the mistaken idea to straight people who vote away our civil rights by unconstitutional ballot initatives that gay people and our families don't exist. P.S. - Straight young celebs have no problem telling the press they are straight. Taylor should stop lying.

Taylor Lautner is 18 yrs old, and living under a microscope. I would imagine that is enough for any kid. I don't think anyone in the gay or straight community should make comments or have opinions on when or if he should or needs to come out. It is not an assumption any of us should make about this young man. He is after all entitled to a private life, unless HE decides otherwise.

So when is Taylor Lautner going to come out already and stop pretending?
