U.K. Doctors Deem Gay “Cure” Therapies Harmful

BRAIN PSYCHOLOGY X390 (THINK) | ADVOCATE.COM

Therapies that purport to “cure” gay people were denounced as harmful during the annual meeting of the British Medical Association, reports Pink News.

At the Thursday session, the majority of physicians attending agreed that the Royal College of Psychiatrists and other mental health standard-setting organizations should reject and ban the treatments.

“Sexuality is such a fundamental part of who a person is that attempts to change it just result in significant confusion, depression and even suicide,” said Tom Dolphin, vice-chair of the BMA’s junior doctors committee. “You can’t just wish away same-sex attraction no matter how inconvenient it might be.”

@Carlos, I'm glad to know you bought into the lie that being gay equals aggressive behavior or chemical dependence. From the start your christian pseudo scientists are wrong, because being gay has NOTHING to do with bad habits or violence. I guess all the bullshit you are typing can be attributed to the electroshock therapy they gave you when they "cured" you from your gayness.

Changing sexual orientation will be possible when people are able to access their brain like a computer. But by then none would care. Sex in general, straight or gay will be icky. Instead of sexual orientation most people would rather choose to have an efficient memory or faster processing capabilities. People in the future will be looking at us as retarded and barbaric, the same way we see the middle ages.

This is a poor artlicle. Are the 'doctors" speaking of counseling, or actual gene therapy which is an emerging science and has many great possibilities? Many behaviors, including hyper agressive behavior, chemical dependance, and our personal preferances,(as noted in studies of twins) have a genetic component and all avenues for improving life and reaching our full potential should be explored. This group from the U.K. seems intent to keep advances of medicine in the dark ages, with a chilling effect on science.
