Finding an island...

There are several ways to find a particular island on this site. All islands are currently grouped in to five main sections, categorised by the ocean that they are located within. Note that islands found within marginal seas are categorised by that seas parent ocean; for example, islands within the South China Sea can be found within the Pacific Ocean section and islands of the Caribbean within the Atlantic Ocean section. To browse by ocean select from the menus found at the top or bottom of this page and at the bottom of each island page then select from the section menu on the right.

The menu on the right side of this page contains a list of all the island groups and solitary islands currently with an entry on the site. To find Rimatara, for example, simply scroll down and select "Tubuai Islands" and then choose "Rimatara" from the menu on the Tubuai Islands page. Isolated islands not part of any island group, such as Lord Howe Island, are also listed here.

Where's my island?

There are an unknown number of islands in the world, possibly millions. They can't all be found here, and most probably aren't, but they might be — one day — so check back now and again as new islands are usually added every few months or so.
