State Park & FAS Closures and Restrictions

Below is a list of emergency and construction closures that may affect your recreational use of State Parks and Fishing Access Sites.

Also check current fire restrictions as well as closures and restrictions of waterbodies and Wildlife Managament Areas.

State Park Restrictions

Black Sandy Entire Park Beginning September 7, 2010 until further notice Closed to camping and other use Due to construction, the park will be closed.
Giant Springs Lewis & Clark Overlook Beginning September 13, 2010 until mid-November Parking area closed Due to repair of a landslide near the interpretive platform, the parking lot will be closed during construction.
Giant Springs Morony Dam October 4 through November 1, 2010 Closed Lower Morony Dam river access and the access road are closed due to construction. The access road will be closed near the Sulphur Springs trailhead.
Giant Springs North Shore Conservation Easment and Northshore Trail Beginning June 15, 2010 until further notice Trail Closures Trail closures and access to conservation area lands due to construction of power transmission lines.  Hunting opportunities are limited.  Sulphur Spring Trail, North Shore Trail from Morony to Rainbow, and the High Plains Trail are closed. Lake Mary Ronan Campground Beginning September 7, 2010 until approximately November 7 Closed to camping Due to construction, the campground will be closed until approximately November 7. The day use area of the park will remain open.
Salmon Lake Campground Beginning September 22, 2010 Closed to camping Due to pavement repairs, the campground will be closed until the end of the season. The day use area and boat ramp will remain open until Sept. 30. Placid Lake State Park campground is open through November 30.
Smith River Bear Gulch and Trout Creek boat camps Beginning August 20, 2010 until further notice Closed to camping Due to black bear activity, these camps have been closed until further notice.

Fishing Access Site Restrictions

Highway 89 Bridge Yellowstone River, 5 miles east of Livingston September 10, 2010 until approximately February 2011 Closure A bridge repair project is now underway and the site is closed; launch, take out,and parking will not be possible until project completion.  Boats will be able to float through the construction zone; the contractor is installing buoys to indentify a safe passageway. Ruby Dam Ruby River immediately downstream from the Ruby River Dam June 15, 2010 until further notice Closure

Construction: a two-year duration is anticipated.
Salmon Fly Big Hole River at Melrose September 20 through September 30, 2010 Boat ramp closed A new concrete boat ramp will be installed at this site. During construction, the campground will remain open.
Whitaker Bridge Blackfoot River, seven miles east of Johnsrud FAS off Hwy. 200 Beginning September 1, 2010 for approximately one month Bridge and boat launch closed to traffic Bridge will be closed for approximately one month to make minor repairs to the abutment and center pier.
