FWP Grants
  • Future Fisheries—For more than a decade, FWP's Future Fisheries Improvement Program has worked to restore rivers, streams, and lakes to improve and restore Montana's wild fish habitats. About $750,000 are available each year for projects that revitalize wild fish populations. [Learn more]
  • Living with Wildlife—Living With Wildlife is a grant program developed by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) and funded by the Montana Legislature to promote the successful coexistence of people and wildlife in urban and suburban settings. [Learn more]
  • LWCF—The Land & Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965 established a federal grants program encouraging a full partnership between national, state, and local governments in planning and funding outdoor recreation projects. [Learn more]
  • Motorboat Facility—FWP receives a portion of funding from boat registration fees statewide. These funds have traditionally been utilized for boating improvement projects that benefit Montana's boaters at FWP-managed sites. [Learn more]
  • Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV)—The OHV Grant Program typically funds maintenance of existing OHV trails, signing, ethics education, noxious weed control adjacent to trails, enforcement, route mapping, etc. This program relies on partnerships between private clubs and public land managing agencies.   • Recreational Trails Program—RTP applicants (sponsors) can include federal, state, county or municipal agencies, private associations and clubs (not individuals). This grants program is a matching program, whereby RTP grants may not exceed 80% of the total of an individual project. This is a reimbursement program. [Learn more]
  • Shooting Ranges—The purpose of the Montana Shooting Range Grant Program is to create a continuing program and mechanism to provide funding, through the department, to private shooting clubs, private organizations, local governments, and school districts for the establishment and improvement of a system of shooting ranges throughout Montana.[Learn more]
  • Snowmobiling—This program provides funds used to support snowmobile trail grooming, the purchase and repair of grooming-related equipment, safety education, public outreach, and law enforcement. These funds also provide for technical assistance to snowmobile clubs, the Montana Snowmobile Association, and other state and federal agencies. [Learn more]
