Rules & Regulations

Each year, millions of people recreate on Montana lands, both public and private. These individuals hike, camp, boat, float, ride motorized and non-motorized vehicles, and partake in a myriad of other activities as they enjoy the great outdoors. Laws derived from statutes and the FWP Commission provide for the protection, conservation, and stewardship of Montana's natural and cultural resources. Other laws are meant to protect recreationists and landowners, keep the peace, and maintain public order. On these pages, you'll find links to boating, snowmobiling and OHV laws; state park rules; and other regulations pertaining to Montana's fish and wildlife resources.
