Thanksgiving week seems to be the week of the free projects for Milwaukee hip-hop artists.

For the last several years hip-hop group Malicious has done its best to stay busy. It has quietly released five albums and is on the verge of releasing a sixth album, which at this time could represent the group's final release.

Keith Urban announced his new tour today and there's a Milwaukee date set for 2011.
4. Milwaukee UP: Bizzon stages battles
DJ Bizzon, one half of WMSE's Tuesday night hip-hop show known as The Madkids Show, and Power Family Movement have put together a series of battles that will pit several emcees against each other for the sake of attempting to create more hip-hop culture events in the city of Milwaukee.
5. Triple S steps into the spotlight with "The Manifesto"
Triple S, also known as Big Trip, is an emcee that has been working around the Milwaukee Hip-Hop scene primarily in a backing role as the right hand man of SPEAK Easy, up until recently when he released his own solo project known as "The Manifesto EP."

I just came across a flier for a show that may have me tearing off my robe and burning my copy of "Dharma Bums." Chicago garage-glam phenoms Smith Westerns, who put out one of my favorite records in 2009, will be playing Club Garibaldi on Nov. 12.

Local manufacturer Briggs & Stratton has extended its sponsorship of Summerfest and the Henry Maier Festival Park for another 10 years, though 2010. Part of the deal includes a stage area makeover.

23. 20 years of Clamnation -- a cause for celebration
At the dawn of the 1990s, The Clams were making music unlike that being created by anyone else in Milwaukee. The band morphed into Clamnation and has had a long life on the Milwaukee scene. In fact, tomorrow, the group celebrates its 20th anniversary with a gig at The Nomad, 1401 E. Brady St.
24. DiFranco brings it to NOLA's Blue Nile
Seeing Ani DiFranco at the Blue Nile -- a New Orleans' venue that's smaller than the second floor performance space of Milwaukee's Bradford Beach Club -- was by far the high point of my concert-going history.
25. Uncovering a musical gem right here on my desk
A fair number of CDs make their way to my desk here at OnMilwaukee.com. Some I'm eager to hear, others are here simply because a band is coming to town and some are from bands I've never heard of. I just popped one of the latter and was pleasantly surprised.
