What is it?

The motivation phase of entrepreneurs comes before the development of the idea and business project. In Asturias, a region with little entrepreneurial tradition, numerous organizations and bodies work on and perfect activities daily that motivate, educate and raise awareness of this culture within Asturian society, awakening vocations, informing and aiding the development of enterprise skills and competences in our region.

What actions are developed in Asturias?

In Primary and Secondary Education

In the education system, and through the Entrepreneur Training Network, Valnalón gives talks and workshops, in which misconceptions about entrepreneurs are dispelled, students are asked to reflect on their own enterprise abilities, information about business set up and management is given, and points of reference are used that young people can identify with.
At University

The University of Oviedo has also developed its own awareness raising and motivational activities: talks, conferences and training sessions aimed at both students and academic staff and researchers, with information about possible business development by turning research results into business ideas and spin-off academies.

Events aimed at entrepreneurs

Numerous promotional events and training sessions for entrepreneurs are held throughout the year in Asturias. The most important regional event is Day of the Entrepreneur, but local regional events are also held, like the Meeting for Entrepreneurs and Businessmen/women of Eastern Asturias

Also, every year a Clinic is celebrated. The Clinic is a high performance intensive course for young entrepreneurs, raised through immersion in some territories. The Clinic includes activities for personal and professional development: sports activities, group dynamics, training sessions, coaching, and meetings with leading figures in economic and social sectors.

Also, numerous awards, are given annually to businesses and projects, from various public and private organizations, that bring public acknowledgement and recognition to entrepreneurs who have opted to put their ideas and projects into practice.

In addition, motivational and awareness-raising activities take place in public institutions: Entrepreneurial Schools, Local Development Agencies, Municipal Business Initiative Centres, Business Centres (www.aceppa.es), Rural Development Groups, business associations or some Professional Colleges These include talks, workshops, informative sessions, publication of materials, information for entrepreneurs on websites, etc
