What does WISE stand for?

Women into Science, Engineering and Construction

WISE promotes Science, Engineering, Technology (SET) and Construction as suitable career choices among girls and women across the UK; through brochures, posters, websites, videos, DVDs, hands-on courses and presentations.

What is SET about?

SET stands for Science, Engineering and Technology. WISE has many booklets; such as “A Girl Like You”, the WISE brochure, the Role Models sets, SPARK magazines and more providing helpful information about SET.  The WISE Directory of Initiatives lists many courses that offer hands-on SET experience.

Does WISE offer sponsorship?

The WISE Campaign is a charity and therefore unable to sponsor individuals or organisations. The WISE Directory of Initiatives lists those organisations that may be able to help.

The variety of jobs in engineering is enormous and every member of an engineering team will bring their own expertise, whether practical, technical or creative.  Great opportunities face today's engineers because of rapidly changing technology.

Engineering graduates can earn up to £2,500 more than their peers not long after graduation. They are also more likely, in comparison with graduates in other subjects, to find employment soon after graduation and in their preferred area of work.  (Scenta 2007)  www.scenta.co.uk/careers/money/pay_&_prospects.cfm
