These categories are those that limit the addition of new sellers to the category because, for example, of the volume of existing sellers in the category or the types of brands represented in the category. Universal Product Code (UPC) is a 12-digit bar code used extensively for retail packaging in United States. Each UPC uniquely identifies the product, manufacturer, and its attributes; typically, the UPC is printed on a product label or packaging as a bar code. Some products require an EAN or UPC to create a listing. Sellers can obtain UPCs from the manufacturer. If your products do not have manufacturer UPCs and you need to buy them, you should go directly to the Uniform Code Council (UCC) Web site at http://www.gs1us.org
EAN is an equivalent of the UPC, used outside the U.S. The EAN is a 12- or 13-digit product identification code. You can use an EAN to identify your product in the catalog if you have a product that is manufactured outside the U.S.
