Structured to Deliver Results
Aerospace utilizes a unique engineering and technology matrix (pdf) to support all space programs. Our Engineering and Technology Group comprises the core of the company's technical talent, which can be applied across all programs and customer needs. No other company has the breadth of knowledge and experience in space systems or the depth of talent in such a broad array of scientific and engineering disciplines. This type of integrated technical structure gives us the flexibility to focus very specialized expertise on the most uncommon technical problems.
Engineering and Technology Group (ETG)
Our core science and engineering organization, ETG allows specialized technical knowledge, proprietary tools and data, and the lessons of more than 45 years of work on complex systems to be applied across all space programs and customer needs. Within ETG, the company's Laboratory Operations includes more than 80 specialized facilities, equipment and software used to test, analyze, and troubleshoot virtually every aspect of rocket and satellite system design, development, construction, deployment and operation.
Space Launch Operations (SLO)
Members of Space Launch Operations are responsible for supporting all Air Force launch programs. The group also supports launch activities at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas; Cape Canaveral, Florida; and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. Aerospace technicians monitor and collect data from every national security launch at our Spacelift Telemetry Acquisition and Reporting System, or STARS facilities, located at both the East and West Coast launch sites and at our headquarters in El Segundo, California.
Space Program Operations (SPO)
Space Program Operations works directly with our Air Force, government and industry partners to develop military satellites and advanced national-security satellite systems. The group assists with the development of system requirements, provides schedule and cost risk assessments, and solves systems development problems. SPO oversees four major spacecraft and space system areas -- communications, surveillance, weather, and navigation.
National Systems Group (NSG)
NSG is responsible for systems engineering and integration support for National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) space programs. This group provides planning, development and deployment services for reconnaissance space systems, including technical and engineering analyses, concept design studies, source selection evaluations, long-range planning and architecture studies, and direct on-site support. The group also analyzes requirements and capabilities in the development of system architectures that will continue to advance the nation's space mission and next-generation NRO programs.
Systems Planning and Engineering (SPE)
SPE is an amalgam group that performs cross-program engineering and horizontal planning to support all national security space programs. Working closely with our primary customers and other government agencies, SPE also supports the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence on space protection policy and the National Security Space Architect. Activities within the group include requirements analysis, cross-mission planning and architecture development, strategic awareness planning, cross-program engineering, and systems acquisition development.
Space Operations Requirements and Technology (SORT)
Aerospace's Space Operations Requirements and Technology Group, or SORT, was established to provide technological support for operations planning and requirements for U.S. Strategic Command in Omaha, Nebraska; U.S. Space Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the Air Force Research Laboratory in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Aerospace employees support directed energy, the airborne laser, and technology development for the Air Force.
Civil and Commercial Operations
Our efforts to support national security space have broadened to include a wide range of services for civil and commercial space customers. We assist NASA with its Earth and space science missions, planetary exploration missions, and in the development of the International Space Station. We are also a major contributor to existing and new satellite programs for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Commercially we support satellite owner-operators, spacecraft manufacturers, insurance companies, and space-consulting and legal firms. The synergy between our government and commercial programs enhances our insights and knowledge of state-of-the-art space systems, yielding benefits for both types of customers.
