The tunnel boring machine in the east tunnel, currently 100 feet under the Montlake neighborhood at about East Louisa Street, has traveled about 2000 feet since it began operation at the University of Washington station next to Husky Stadium. The two 21 foot diameter tunnels from the UW to Capitol Hill will eventually be two miles long. It is planned to be completed in 2016. Photo: JOSHUA TRUJILLO / SEATTLEPI.COM
