Accessibility and Standards

Accessibility

The bfi is committed to making all of its web content as accessible as possible, not merely through our legal obligations under the UK's Disability Discrimination Act, but also as a matter of principle to find as wide an audience as possible. To this end, we have adopted the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 as our standard of accessibility, and all pages on this site should comply with these guidelines.

You can find out more about Web Content Accessibility Guidelines on the W3C website.

Web standards

This site is built to comply with web standards, in particular XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS 2.0.

We've done this in order to separate the content from its presentation, making the site work on as wide a variety of browsers and platforms as possible. You should find this site as easy to use on a PDA as a stand alone PC.

Altering the text size on the site

If you are experiencing difficulty reading the text on this site you may want to increase the font size to a magnification that best suits your needs. To do this please refer to the 'View' menu on your browser and look for an option containing the word 'Text' / 'Font' alongside any of the following: 'Increase', 'Zoom' or 'Size'. i.e. 'Text Size' for Internet Explorer and Safari users.

Problems using the site

If you are experiencing any problems with the accessibility of this site relating to a particular platform, or if you use Adaptive Technology and have any suggestions about how we might make the site easier for you to use, please contact the bfi web team.
