This utility version winch is driven by a durable, but low Amp, permanent magnet 1.0 hp motor which is controlled by an included wired handheld remote containing two sets of color-coated electrical leads and a circuit breaker component and wire. One set of paired leads attaches to the winch and the other to the DC battery power source, with the circuit breaker component and wire added to the positive connection to the battery. Making these connections is easy, quick and ensures safe operation of the 49 feet of 5/32" rope wire included with the winch. The Superwinch LT2000 Utility Winch also features a pull and turn freespooling clutch, allowing for manual extending of wire rope, a heavy duty latched hook and a tree strap. The LT2000 Superwinch is a great little winch for the price. This was surprisingly smaller lighter than I expected, but it does perform well for my needs. Here are my observations:
Pros -
+ Lightweight; easy to move around when not in use
+ Powerful; has enough pulling "umph" for the jobs I bought it for (pulling bushes)
+ Easy To Use; controls are intuitive
Cons -
- Cable was caught in the "Back Plate" when it arrived, I had to manually unwind the cable and use a small pry-bar to free it and now I have a concern every time it is used that the cable will get caught again (but it hasn't)
Since this is so light, and we didn't want to permanently attach the winch, we also bought Superwinch 2060 Portable Ball Hitch Mount.

I bought this winch to use in removing my aluminum 400# shore station from the water each fall. I was able to connect this using jumper cables to the car battery being careful to separate the wires connected to the unit. This easily lifted the shore station through a directional transfer pulley and held it in position while I was able to secure it. The construction is very good and the controls are easy to figure out. The instructions are fine and explain how to set the unit up. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to use the winch for medium duty lifting or moving of heavy loads.

I used this winch last fall to move a boat shore station (boat lift) to a position to get it out of the area where ice could hit and damage it during the winter. My son and I set it to pick up one end of the shore station. While the load was easily within the rating of the winch the motor stopped working during this use and has refused to work since that time. I just recently tried to get it back up and running with no success. Based upon this, I can't vouch for this winch's dependability and ruggedness. I used the winch two or three times before it stopped working.
