1. Awww, cute and rare jaguar cubs stream online from Milwaukee County Zoo
The Milwaukee County Zoo has its first jaguar cubs since 1975. The cubs were born Nov. 13 and introduced, via webcam, on Dec. 13.
2. Report foretold of Sandy's destruction
A September research report by Ceres, a Boston-based business sustainability advocacy organization, was eerily prescient. Ceres published the white paper titled, "Stormy Future for U.S. Property/Casualty Insurers: The Growing Costs and Risks of Extreme Weather Events."

With the help of their mom, Alexia and Seth Kempe invented the HoodiePet. Hasbro and the Chicago Toy and Game Group nominated the children for a "Young Inventors of The Year" TAGIE award that recognizes toy and game inventors from around the world. And they won.
10. Southridge Mall completes renovation, adds new shops for 2013
Southridge Mall has finished a large-scale renovation and announced the arrival of four new stores and eateries joining the property in 2013.
11. Milwaukee Brewing Company is going solar
Milwaukee Brewing Company announced today that it plans to install a solar hot water system at its brewing facility. The solar project will reduce the brewery's energy costs and showcase the company's commitment to sustainable brewing practices.

I've noticed the new Lexus spots. They're well done, creative and stand out in the current clutter of Christmas and holiday hoopla. But, Lexus has it wrong.
13. Nordstrom opening at Mayfair
Today, Nordstrom announced plans to open its first full-line store in Wisconsin at Mayfair, the largest mixed-use shopping center in the state. The store is scheduled to open in fall 2015.
14. How I visited Grand Avenue and got a nice surprise
Certainly, it doesn't appear to be doing 1985-era business again yet, but, I had the definite feeling today at the mall - for the first time in a long time - that it's too soon to write an obituary for The Shops of Grand Avenue.

The resale and art shop, MODify, recently closed its doors at 222 E. Erie St. in the Third Ward and has moved the business online and to 7217-A W. North Ave., in Wauwatosa.
16. Fred Boutique expands to Door County
Ronald Krinn and Kotti Anderson, co-owners of Fred Boutique on 522 N. Water St., announced today that the business will open a location in Fish Creek.
17. Jake's Deli heading Downtown
The Shops of Grand Avenue is welcoming three new local businesses to the western half of the mall just in time for the fast approaching holiday season. One is the ever-popular Jake's Deli.
